
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) through Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd (Cradle) recently announced the second stop of the groundbreaking micro-conference series, MYStartup NXT, taking place in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. The two-day event, brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, existing startups and industry experts to foster inclusivity, impact and sustainability within Malaysia’s vibrant startup ecosystem.
According to YB Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, “We believe that the MYStartup initiative will continue to drive innovation, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the overall economic development of the region. At MOSTI, we remain committed to supporting initiatives under MYStartup that foster entrepreneurship and technological advancement as we work together to build a vibrant and sustainable startup ecosystem in Sarawak and Malaysia as a whole”.
In collaboration with Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas), the micro-conference series offers aspiring and existing entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn, network and expose themselves to corporates, technology giants, investors and other relevant stakeholders to start and scale a business.
MYStartup NXT Sarawak is part of the ambitious initiative to create over 5,000 quality startups by 2025, providing them with the comprehensive support and resources needed to thrive in the dynamic startup ecosystem.
Following the success of MYStartup NXT in Sarawak, the series of micro-conferences will continue its journey, with upcoming stops in Penang and Sabah, further bolstering Malaysia’s thriving startup ecosystem.
MOSTI’s collaboration to boost startup ecosystem
MYStartup, an initiative by the Ministry of Science of Technology and Innovation (“MOSTI”) and Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd (“Cradle”), also announced its strategic partnerships with Maxis, PETRONAS, Cyberview and airasia academy.
The collaborations with these companies mark a significant milestone in developing the local startup ecosystem, paving the way for exponential growth as it nurtures a culture of innovation in Malaysia.
According to Ahmad Kashfi Alwi, Senior Vice President, Ecosystem Development of Cradle, the collaborations with the companies signify a collective commitment to fostering the growth and success of startups in Malaysia. “By leveraging each partner’s expertise, resources, and networks, we can create an enabling environment where startups can thrive, innovate, and make a lasting impact,” he added.
Collaborating with Maxis provides startups with opportunities to engage in Maxis-organised programmes and engagements, fostering potential commercial partnerships and project developments. Additionally, startups participating in the MYStartup Accelerator Programme will have the chance to connect with Maxis for future business and potential funding opportunities.

The partnership with Petronas opens up opportunities for startups in Malaysia to access their Go-to-Market platform via the PETRONAS FutureTech Accelerator Programme, allowing them to achieve improved funding and investment opportunities and any technology acquired.
Through Cradle and Cyberview, startups will also be able to connect with angel investors from the Malaysian Business Angel Network (MBAN), opening doors for potential funding opportunities.
The partnership between MYStartup and airasia academy, which will begin in December 2022, will also make knowledge and education fundamentals more accessible to the startup community, while assisting entrepreneurs and startups in accelerating their upskilling initiatives through readily available guided learning content.
The instructor-led training courses also offer certification modules covering crucial areas such as digital marketing, cybersecurity and software engineering.
