Skynfyx has selected CTOS eKYC as the solution to onboard new patients, register recurring consultation sessions as well as dispense medical prescriptions digitally.
CTOS eKYC is a secure digital identity verification system which removes the need for manual, face-to-face identity verification of customers for Skynfyx, thus reducing onboarding time to mere seconds.

“Practicing medicine online falls under the Telemedicine Act 1997 that states that anyone doing so is required to keep proper medical records including a patient’s name, identification, address and contact number,” explained Dr. Lim Ing Kien, Founder of Skynfyx.
He added that CTOS eKYC could detect abnormalities with any potential new patients and as such, this leads to a faster, more efficient process for its clients.
“Currently manual verification takes 60 seconds. CTOS eKYC will reduce that to less than five seconds giving us a 90% reduction in patient verification time. We are expecting CTOS eKYC to help us increase our customer base by 50% by the end of 2021,” said Dr. Lim
Skynfyx provides an online medical consultancy service for all skin conditions and offers personal prescriptions in a fast, affordable manner.
“Recently, we have seen CTOS eKYC being utilised in more sectors including the motor and property markets, beyond the traditional financial services space, thanks to the wide-spread confidence in the versatility and capability of the solution,” remarked Eric Chin, CEO of CTOS Data Systems Sdn Bhd. “As we now move into the medical industry with Skynfyx, we are seeing the proven value that CTOS eKYC is delivering to facilitate digital transformation across a broader range of markets.”
“CTOS eKYC solution does not access patient’s information that is kept confidential by healthcare professionals but rather verifies the identity of patients during registration or onboarding process based on the 4 layer four-layer authentication process to ensure that patients who are being onboarded or registering again for medical consultation are indeed who they say they are,” he told BizTech Times.
Patient identity verification is crucial for access to relevant medical information and treatment histories to ensure that practitioners are delivering consistent and appropriate care to the right individuals.
According to Chin, CTOS eKYC adheres to the highest standards in regulatory compliance. “It has a 4-layer authentication process for added security and has undergone extensive user testing and technology validation in Bank Negara Malaysia’s Fintech Regulatory Sandbox. The data sources for identity verification come from CTOS database, CCRIS live data and SSM data,” he explained.
CTOS’ 4-layer authentication process ensures thorough digital identity verification of applicants which includes:
Identity document verification – An image of the applicant’s government issued ID is captured and scanned for a number of distinguishing landmarks and feature sets.
Facial recognition – The applicant is directed to perform certain actions in front of a camera to verify that the video capture is live. The applicant’s is also matched on hundreds of facial landmarks which verify their identity against their government issued ID.
Bureau File Verification – Information extracted from the applicant’s official identification document is matched against CTOS data to verify the applicant’s name, NRIC and known addresses and confirm that the profile is authentic.

Knowledge-based Verification – A series of dynamic questions are then created from the applicant’s personal credit file and responses are matched against existing information to confirm applicant’s identity.
Being one of the world’s first vertically integrated digital skin doctor, Skynfyx aims to revolutionize personal healthcare services in South East Asia in the next 10 years.
