In line with the government’s proactive initiatives to address cost of living for Malaysians, Padiberas Nasional Berhad (BERNAS) has implemented a price adjustment for Imported White Rice in Peninsular Malaysia. Effective 20 March 2024, the price of imported white rice has been adjusted from RM3,200 to RM3,000 per metric ton resulting in a reduction in retail prices by RM2 to RM3 per 10 kilogram bag.

The price adjustment underscores BERNAS’s commitment to ensuring product availability despite the ongoing trend of Imported White Rice prices remaining at their highest levels in the past 15 years.

BERNAS remains dedicated to ensure sufficient and stable rice supply for households nationwide. The company manages the national stockpile and operates as the final purchaser of rice from farmers, prioritizing national interests amidst uncertain global market conditions.
