The Penang International Dragon Boat Regatta (PIDBR) 2025 was back at Straits Quay Retail Marina, Penang from 28 to 30 November 2025. Hosted by leading local developer Eastern & Oriental Berhad (E&O), the regatta once again sets Penang’s coastline abuzz as teams from around the world gather at one of the island’s most recognisable waterfront settings.

Rooted in one of Asia’s longest-standing paddling traditions, PIDBR 2025 further cemented Penang’s maritime legacy while elevating its reputation as a global sporting destination. This year’s edition surpassed last year’s over 1,600 athletes with the introduction of a new para-athlete category featuring three participating groups.

With a line-up of 250m and 400m races, PIDBR 2025 was complemented by special categories that champion inclusivity through para-athlete participation, junior and senior divisions, as well as international open teams.

“The spirit of dragon boating, teamwork, discipline and unity, mirrors the values we uphold as we shape Penang’s future. With Straits Quay and Andaman Island growing side by side, we are proud to support a festival that not only energises our waterfront but strengthens Penang’s standing as a premier destination for sport, culture and community,” said Dato’ Seri Tee Eng Ho, Executive Chairman of Eastern & Oriental Berhad.

E&O’s role as host venue partner shows its commitment to elevating Penang’s tourism and international visibility. Straits Quay Marina, withits location within the Seri Tanjung Pinang masterplan reflects E&O’s long-standing investment in Penang’s northern coast and its continuous efforts to build destinations that foster community engagement, healthy living and cultural celebration.

The event also coincided with a signature waterfront spectacle during upcoming festive season.

At Straits Quay Retail Marina, the regatta became part of a larger celebration as waterfront Christmas attractions, family-friendly amusement rides and seasonal performances transformed the marina into a lively holiday playground.
