GEORGE TOWN — PgCare Alliance has launched a telehealth service for Penangites who are undergoing home quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19.
PgCare Alliance deputy chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said today that the telehealth service would offer virtual care with certified doctors via video or phone calls.
The PgCare Telehealth service, a joint corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort between PgCare Alliance and DoctorTouch, is one of Malaysia’s first public telehealth services available, he said in a virtual press conference here today.

“The telehealth service would make it convenient for COVID-19 patients under home quarantine to seek doctor’s consultation services any day between 9 am and 10 pm in either English, Malay or Chinese language,” he added.
He also said PgCare Alliance would fully subsidise the RM5 consultation fee for those who are eligible.
“Those who want to use the telehealth service can register at www.doctortouch.com/pgcare and provide a photo of their quarantine letter or home surveillance order,” he added.
Meanwhile, DoctorTouch chief executive officer Chan Eu Jin said the telehealth consultation service would also generate e-prescriptions for COVID-19 patients if they needed medications.
He said DoctorHealth is partnering with BIG Pharmacy to enable it to accept e-prescriptions and deliver medications to the patient’s doorsteps.
“The pharmacy would contact the patients to confirm their prescribed medications and arrange online payment transfer before delivering to the designated address within two hours,” he said.
He added that there are two BIG Pharmacy branches in Penang, which are located in Jelutong and Pulau Tikus.
PgCare Alliance is a not-for-profit organisation formed by non-governmental organisations and institutions to address the short- and long-term needs related to mental health, food aid and employment, which have been aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
