Exchange 106 located in Tun Razak Exchange, Malaysia’s International Financial Centre

Exchange 106, the landmark skyscraper at the heart of the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) International Financial Centre, is set to redefine next-generation corporate infrastructure in Malaysia through a strategic collaboration with U Mobile and EdgePoint Towers Sdn Bhd (“EdgePoint”).

Targeted to go live in phases starting Q4 2026, this project will position Exchange 106 as Malaysia’s first fully 5G-enabled supertall skyscraper. Standing at 454 metres, the tower will feature purpose-built In-Building Coverage (IBC) infrastructure spanning 453,885 sqm, designed to support high-bandwidth, low-latency connectivity for corporate tenants and businesses.

For Exchange 106, the integration of 5G is a foundational element of its tenant value proposition. Faris Najhan Hashim, Chief Executive Officer of Exchange 106, emphasised that connectivity is no longer a luxury but a necessity for modern enterprise.

“Our tenants are scaling their digital operations, relying heavily on cloud computing, real-time data analytics, and IoT ecosystems,” said Faris. “By embedding 5G infrastructure into the very fabric of the building, we are future-proofing the workplace. This strategic partnership ensures that Exchange 106 remains a premier address for businesses that demand seamless, high-capacity connectivity to drive productivity and innovation.”

As the provider of the 5G network, U Mobile will deliver its ULTRA5G capabilities to the development. This partnership underscores U Mobile’s commitment to powering enterprise-grade solutions in high-density environments.

Woon Ooi Yuen, Chief Technology Officer of U Mobilesaid, “Exchange 106 is home to businesses that rely on fast and reliable connectivity for their day-to-day operations. By bringing our ULTRA5G network to the building, we are enabling stronger indoor connectivity while providing the foundation for digital applications such as smart parking, access control and IoT. This collaboration demonstrates our capability to support the digital transformation of large-scale enterprises.”

EdgePoint Towers Sdn Bhd has been appointed to design and deploy the complex IBC infrastructure required to make this vision a reality. With over 900 antennas planned across all floors, including lifts and car parks, the solution is engineered to handle the tower’s unique scale and population density.

Muniff Kamaruddin, Chief Executive Officer of EdgePoint Towers Sdn Bhd, highlighted the technical sophistication of the project.

“Corporate environments are becoming increasingly connected, with businesses relying on a growing range of cloud-based, data-intensive and connected applications. This collaboration demonstrates how digital infrastructure can be seamlessly integrated into leading developments to create a highly connected environment that supports greater productivity, efficiency and business continuity.”

By integrating purpose-built 5G infrastructure into the tower, Exchange 106 is reinforcing its commitment to providing a digitally connected environment designed to meet the demands of modern businesses.
