KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) — The following are the updates on COVID-19 figures in Malaysia and selected countries across the world as at 12 noon today.

Data provided by John Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Centre indicate globally there have been 182,151,657 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 3,945,969 deaths.

A total of 3,190,926,603 vaccine doses have been administered globally so far.

The United States (US), India and Brazil remain the top three nations with highest number of positive cases and fatalities. Nonetheless, the US, the United Kingdom (UK) and others have been reporting a slowdown in new cases and deaths in tandem with rising vaccination numbers.

Indonesia has been recording a surge in the number of new cases and is ramping up further its vaccination drive.  India’s fatality figure is coming close to 400,000.

As of June 30, Malaysia saw 8,083,685 doses of vaccine administered with 258,773 doses administered on the day itself. A total of  5,774,667 people have received their first dose and from the number 2,309,018 have received their second dose as well.

The table above indicates the status of some ASEAN nations including Malaysia as at 12 noon today as the COVID-19 pandemic rages on and the vaccination process moves into high gear.
